When you render your scene now you will get two images with the same name in two different folders, one will be in a folder labeled beauty and the other in a folder labeled Contour.īring both of those into after effects and composite them back together there and that should work. Set the filter type to contour for the contour AOV and to box for the RGBA AOV. Set the driver type to EXR for both of them Set the data type to RGBA for both of them ![]() Now you should have two AOVs listed at the bottom, one named "Contour" and one named RGBA. Then click "Add custom" and name your new AOV "Contour" or whatever makes sense to you. Then select RGBA from the list of available AOVs and move it into active AOVs using the arrows below. In the render settings window go to the 4th tab which should be labeled AOVs. However you can avoid setting up two separate renders by using AOVs (render passes). When you use the contour filter you will only get an alpha channel for the contour lines not the mesh objects, so you have to render it twice, once with the contour filter and once with just the box filter (or gaussian filter or whichever looks best in your case). So I think what we have to do and what the other guys were trying to tell us is the following.
